Microsoft Recently launched Windows 8 which Microsoft has been reimagined from the Chipset to the user experience. Windows 8 is the biggest Change since Windows 95. This new OS introduces a completely new Experience with its Modern UI

Windows 8 can run on Desktops, Laptops, Netbooks and now ARM powered tablets with a separate OS called Windows RT which is made for tablets running ARM processors. Windows RT can run Windows Store Programs but not x86 programs but Microsoft has bundled Office 2013 with every Windows RT Tablet.

When you power your Windows 8 PC or tablet you will notice the super fast startup which in some cases some Windows 8 devices startup in 5 to 10 seconds after pressing the Power Button and resume in under 5 seconds

After the PC has booted your welcomed by a new lock screen which tells you the time, Date and other stuff and you can customize the lock screen to what ever Picture you want

The Desktop is still here which hasn’t changed much since Windows 7 but the Aero theme has been replaced with a much basic Metro theme and the Windows Explorer now known as File Explorer has a Ribbon interface which was introduced with Office 2007.

 Windows 8 has Built in Apps which are People, Messaging, Music, Video, Maps and Games. There is also a new Modern Style Internet Explorer.

Overall Windows 8 is  a love it or hate it OS. Microsoft has Chosen to use 2 experiences in one OS

Microsoft Completes Windows 8

Yesterday Microsoft Announced that Windows 8 is Complete and will go (RTM) Release to Manufacturing

 

August 15th: Developers will be able to download the final version of Windows 8 through their MSDN subscriptions.  

August 15th: IT professionals testing Windows 8 in organizations will be able to access the final version of Windows 8 through their TechNet subscriptions.

August 16th: Customers with the existing Microsoft Software Assurance program for Windows will be able to download Windows 8 Enterprise edition through the Volume License Service Center (VLSC). This will allow users to test, pilot, and start adopting Windows 8 Enterprise.

August 16th: Microsoft Partner Network members will have access to Windows 8.

August 20th: Microsoft Action Pack Providers (MAPS) will receive access to Windows 8.

September 1st: Volume License customers can purchase Windows 8 through the Microsoft Volume License Resellers. This applies to customers without Software Assurance.

October 26th : Windows 8 is available to the General Public and also the Microsoft Surface
